Darren Rowse from www.problgger.net has
this month’s group writing contest with a theme of ‘Top 5’ of
anything. I have decided to join in this. I have been an admirer
for a while of Darren and his blog. Check out the other entries in the
project or just check out the blog as it is a great read for tips and tricks
on blogging.
Here is my contribution to the group writing project.
Top 5 Property investment tips
- Always plan how you are going to invest, where to invest and with whom
you are going to be working with. Buying abroad can be daunting, but it
needn’t be. With proper planning, talking to the right people
and having a good team behind you it can be relatively straight forward. - Research is one of the key components of buying abroad. Obviously read,
watch and use the internet as much as possible to narrow the countries down
you want to buy in. Once you have narrowed the countries down, narrow
the regions down, and then the towns until you have an exact location. You
can never do too much research. Visit the countries you have narrowed
down, it won’t be as costly as you might think. - Check out everything you will need to pay when buying abroad. This can
include lawyer’s fees, estate agency fees, tax both your country and
the country you intend to buy in, country specific fees. When you are
certain you have calculated everything you have to pay, including travelling
costs etc put it down on paper and work with the figures. Always allow
for 10% contingency fees in case anything unexpected comes up. Have
a budget and stick to it and make sure you include all the costs. - Finding the money can be a bit tricky as well. You might have to do
a lot of calling to get the best deal. Check out mortgages in your country
and the country you intend to buy in. Some countries can offer extremely
low interest rates in a bid to attract foreign investors. - Always get a survey done. A lot of countries don’t do this
but take a surveyor from your own country it will be worth the money in the
long run.
