2008 looks to be starting the way for an increase in the number of properties being repossessed. It is widely predicted that throughout the course of 2008 there will be some where in the region of 45,000 homes repossessed due to people not being able to afford their mortgage payments. This is just the tip of the iceberg though as there is also expected to be somewhere around 170,000 homeowners who will be severely struggling to pay their mortgages.

For small property developers in the US this is a great time to buy property as you may be able to buy at great prices.
The S&P/Case-Shiller® U.S. National Index Home Price Index has fallen another 3.2% in the 3rd quarter of 2007 and average prices of new homes have now fallen by 9.7 per cent to $238,000.

Figures released, earlier this week, by Halifax shows the top 4 cities in the UK for house prices rises are all in Northern Ireland. Armagh topped the table with an increase of 188% in the 5 years to September 2007. This is an amazing increase and either reinforces the point of view that the market is heading for a sharp fall or, if you’re on the other side of the fence, it is still very bouyant.
The two Scottish cities of Dundee and Aberdeen also made the top ten with increases of 130% and 125% respectively.
